October Muse - Sarah Corbett-Winder
We chatted to our October muse, Sarah Corbett-Winder, a freelance stylist and art director.
Sarah shares her fashion, lifestyle and interiors finds on her website www.sarahs.co.uk, and in her weekly subscribers only newsletter. Sarah offers a unique and accessible view on shopping and wardrobe curation, focusing on affordability, quality and longevity. Most of all - she wants us to all try something new with our clothes and to have fun with fashion!
Sarah's styling tips for The Carey Smocked Dress:
"I love and appreciate the femininity of this dress but for me, I wanted to see how it looked when paired with more masculine pieces - think loafers and a waistcoat. This has to be one of my favourite styling tricks.
I always have fun playing with the things that you think shouldn't go together and they often end up working really well. This frock would also be great with a knitted vest worn over the top, I think the sleeves need to have their time to shine so the key is not to cover them up!
I have kept this look tonal with the pink velvet bag and green sunnies, picking out the colours in the print. A more dainty shoe, think brown velvet Mary Jane, would work well with this dress too, but I would make sure you add a blazer or waistcoat to add some masculinity."
Sarah's styling tips for The Autumn Nehru Collar Dress:
"I love the statement that this dress makes. It lends itself well to a stomp around, that's why I have added knee high tan boots. I wanted to draw in and accentuate my waist with the wide leather belt, it really gives a lovely, feminine shape.
As someone who loves matching, of course I had to carry a tan bucket bag. When a dress has this much presence I often pair it with the same coloured accessories - don't try and compete with it. A camel roll neck would also be great worn underneath and also a red velvet loafer. This is one of those dresses that you will really really, enjoy wearing."
What is your A/W hero piece?
Can I have two? A pair of chunky leather loafers, a la Penelope Chilvers and a knitted vest, Blake LDN have fab ones.
Where would you go for an Autumn weekend away?
Great question - something that my husband and I are working out now. We've wanted to try Thyme in the Cotswolds for a while - it's always fully booked but I think we've worked out a weekend.
